Insulating our homes to make them more energy efficient is something we’ve been hearing about for decades, but what about garage insulation?
Insulating the garage can offer many benefits, ranging from enhanced energy efficiency (particularly when it’s attached to your home) to making it a more usable space to spend time in. This blog will delve into the pros and cons of insulating the garage, shedding light on the considerations homeowners should bear in mind. So whether you want to use the garage as a home gym or simply looking to improve your home’s energy efficiency, understanding the advantages and potential drawbacks is important.
Energy Efficiency: The main benefit to insulating the garage walls is improved energy efficiency. Garage insulation helps to regulate temperature from heat loss in the Winter and to keep the space cool in the Summer months, all contributing to overall energy savings in the home.
Increased Comfort: A well-insulated garage makes the space more comfortable to spend time in, especially if you want to use the space for fitness, a games room or workshop. Insulation can help to maintain a consistent and comfortable temperature throughout the year.
Reduced Noise: Insulation acts as a sound barrier, reducing noise both from outside the garage as well as within. This is particularly beneficial if you plan to use the space for activities that generate noise such as playing the drums or DIY projects.
Protection of Belongings: Insulating the garage can help to protect your stored items from extreme cold and heat. Items like tools, seasonal decorations and sports kit are less likely to be damaged by temperature fluctuations if the space has been properly insulated.
Versatility: An insulated garage makes the space much more multi-purpose and provides a comfortable foundation for many different uses.
Cons of Insulating the Garage
Cost: Initial costs to insulate may be a drawback to some, however the long-term energy savings associated with this can off-set these costs. This is where Garageflex can help as we are able to include insulation as part of your overall garage transformation project.
Space Reduction: Adding insulation to your garage walls will slightly reduce the space. However, if you add this to your overall Garageflex project then it won’t take up additional room as it is fitted in behind our FlexiPanel wall solution.
Moisture Issues: Not installing insulation properly or providing adequate insulation may lead to moisture-related problems. Our professional installation team have many years of experience in adding insulation into our transformation projects and so know all of the pit-falls to avoid.
So should you add insulation into your garage? It really depends on your budget and what you want to use your garage for. If it’s for fitness, diy, games room etc. then it’s probably a worthwhile task.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, give your mum the gift of a clean and organised home by creating a great storage space in the garage.
The garage is the perfect place to store hobby items, spare tins of food and pet supplies. And let’s not forget that we often have children’s school certificates, sports equipment or even clothes long after children have fledged the nest. So creating a useful storage place to put all of these items is a winner for everyone.
Here are five ideas to make the garage a useful space and keep mum happy by decluttering the house.
1. See through boxes make it easy to see what you have stored
2. Utilise shelving or overhead storage for groceries and spare tins of food
3. Try adding in storage racks for bikes, tennis rackets or other hobby equipment to keep everything neatly stored
4. Create a pet corner for bedding, carriers and other pet supplies
5. Store your garden tools safely on the wall with our range of storage hooks
Spring is just around the corner and so it is a great time to start preparing your garage for the new season. So here’s our seven easy steps to spring cleaning your garage and making the most of this useful storage space.
A typical garage has plenty of storage space if you put the walls and ceiling to good use. Making it a clean and organised space rather then a dumping ground is certainly something to strive for. The hardest part is probably taking the first step. But if you don’t have the time or inclination to do it yourself, then there are specialists who will come in and declutter for you. Here are some tips to help ‘spring’ you into action this weekend.
Get your supplies ready. Make sure you have gloves for cleaning, bin bags for rubbish and good sturdy boxes for storing items. And allocate some time to do it!
It’s tempting to just do a small area rather than the whole space but our advice would be to clear the whole space if possible. This way you can have a good declutter as well as preparing for step three.
Work from top to bottom to clean the space. Eliminate cobwebs from the ceiling, walls and corners with longer length dusters and sweep the entire space to get rid of dust and debris. Don’t forget the garage door so make sure to clean inside the door and any track areas.
When it comes to the floor they can get pretty grimy. So once it’s all swept try giving it a clean using a mild floor cleaner to get rid of any stains or marks.
You can consider things like Facebook groups, your local charity shop, a car boot sale, ebay or if the item is in bad condition then perhaps a skip or local tip. Its always a good idea to recycle where possible as after all one person’s rubbish is another’s treasure! For items that you aren’t quite sure about it’s worth storing it and reviewing it again in six months time.
Sit back and reap the benefits of a clean, tidy and organised garage space come the Spring when you’re looking for your golf clubs or dusting off the bikes for a family ride.
We are excited to share these fantastic garage makeovers from January 2023. From floor only installations right through to full garage makeovers, and everything in between.
Our professional designers and fitting teams have done a magnificent job at creating these beautiful, yet useful storage spaces for our customers.
This is just a small selection of the garages we’ve transformed right across the UK. And we would love to help you tackle your garage dilemmas whether it’s ugly metres and boilers, a badly pitted garage floor or just a lack of storage.
Let’s face it, most garage floors are pretty ugly. Made of concrete, probably with oil or paint stains, and of course all that dust! With so many tasks vying for your attention and share of pocket, upgrading your garage floor might not be your top priority. But here are five good reasons why it should perhaps be a bit higher on your to do list.
1. Create a dust-free environment
The garage floor is a very common place for excess dust to collect. It could be from how the concrete was mixed, climate changes or just a build-up over time. But what if the garage floor didn’t have to be like that? Laying floor tiles or a seamless resin coating over the top can minimise the amount of dust coming through and make the space a much nicer environment to be in.
2. Add in a hard-wearing and robust solution
The average lifespan of a concrete floor can be measured in decades but it will need maintenance and repairs, especially if you use your garage for heavy machinery or as a workshop. What you need is something that is resistant to abrasions and easy to clean, meaning less maintenance work for you. Garage floor paint could be used but would need re-applying regularly and can look pretty awful once it starts peeling and flaking.
3. Provide a safe floor for the family
Don’t run the risk of someone slipping or twisting an ankle on an uneven floor. Opt for a flooring solution that allows you to have a clean, even floor without pits and holes.
4. Easy to clean
Choose a flooring solution that’s easy to clean. If you park your car in the garage or bring in muddy bikes then of course the floor will need cleaning to keep it looking good. But you can install a floor that’s easy to clean and doesn’t need a full on pressure washer to get it back up to scratch.
5. Gives your garage the wow factor
And finally, if you are going to add in a new floor, make sure it looks good. Our seamless resin floors do create a beautiful finish to the garage and provides that wow factor. Similarly, you could have our interlocking floor tiles laid in the pattern or design of your choice to really make it stand out from the crowd and give your home some kerb appeal!
Here at Garageflex we believe that whether you want to park your car in your garage, use it for DIY or just for storage, every garage deserves a floor that provides a safe environment for all the family, yet looks great too.

Every home needs storage space, whether in your loft, closets or simply throughout the home. Most people require more storage space than their house can provide, especially when it comes to larger possessions you use infrequently. A Garage is an ideal dedicated storage location for out-of-the-way yet easy access to your private belongings.
It used to be that a garage was where you kept the car, but this no longer applies to the majority of garage owners. In fact, nearly six million UK garages are not used for cars as they’re too full of junk. In this case, it’s important to ensure your garage space is adequately organised to ensure it doesn’t become a cluttered mess and a hassle to find what you’re looking for.
At GarageFlex, we offer a wide range of storage solutions to improve garage storage and help you make the most of your garage, but first, you need to make sure your garage is ready for them.
Before you can improve garage storage, you’ll need to tidy up your existing garage. Decluttering your items to clear out the area can give you a better look at how to organise the garage best. Also, by emptying the garage of your belongings, you can invest in a resin MMA floor to make for an aesthetically appealing visual before you install storage solutions.
To improve garage storage, we suggest utilising the room efficiently. By this, we mean incorporating smart garage wall storage to make the most of the garage wall space. There are various options available, including:
The FlexiPanel is a wall panelling that can hold various storage accessories, including hooks, racks, baskets and more.
FlexiPanel is visually impressive, offering a bright white space that can hide the original brickwork while having the functional ability to insulate behind the panels and hold various accessories. You can decide to cover the entire garage with FlexiPanel to maximise the storage opportunity or choose just one or two walls. Hence the name; the flexible storage solution is modular, allowing you to easily unclip accessories and move them around as and when you need to.
FlexiTrack is a small length of track that you can fix to garage walls to hold the same storage accessories as FlexiPanel.
FlexiTrack can be fitted at any height and cut to fit the available space making them extremely useful for places with limited space. It can provide ample storage options for larger items, which you can adjust effortlessly to accommodate your changing needs. Multiple lengths of FlexiTrack can be installed around the garage to provide a suitable amount of storage for your requirements as an alternative to covering an entire wall.
The majority of the GarageFlex storage range is designed to clip onto either of the above options rather than attach directly to the garage wall.
Your walls are just some of the areas of your garage you can use for storage. You should also consider the vertical space available and make the most of the garage ceiling storage space for storing possessions in an accessible yet out-of-the-way place.
Powertrack is a channel installed into the ceiling, allowing hooks and hangers to slide along easily so you can move your belongings around the garage.
Similar to FlexTrack, you can cut PowerTrack to your desired size. Its straightforward modular design means you can replace the hooks and racks depending on what you want hanging without needing nails or screws. Overhead storage racks are ideal for big bulky, seasonal items that you rarely use and can be stored long-term, such as Christmas decorations, ladders, and garden equipment.
Improve garage storage today with the above suggestions, which can be bought from our shop and fit yourself. Alternatively, we have installation options if you require assistance and want the peace of mind of knowing your garage storage has been professionally fitted.
