5 Reasons to Upgrade your Garage Floor

Let’s face it, most garage floors are pretty ugly.  Made of concrete, probably with oil or paint stains, and of course all that dust!  With so many tasks vying for your attention and share of pocket, upgrading your garage floor might not be your top priority. But here are five good reasons why it should perhaps be a bit higher on your to do list.

1. Create a dust-free environment

The garage floor is a very common place for excess dust to collect.  It could be from how the concrete was mixed, climate changes or just a build-up over time.   But what if the garage floor didn’t have to be like that?  Laying floor tiles or a seamless resin coating over the top can minimise the amount of dust coming through and make the space a much nicer environment to be in.

2.  Add in a hard-wearing and robust solution

The average lifespan of a concrete floor can be measured in decades but it will need maintenance and repairs, especially if you use your garage for heavy machinery or as a workshop. What you need is something that is resistant to abrasions and easy to clean, meaning less maintenance work for you.  Garage floor paint could be used but would need re-applying regularly and can look pretty awful once it starts peeling and flaking.

3.  Provide a safe floor for the family

Don’t run the risk of someone slipping or twisting an ankle on an uneven floor.  Opt for a flooring solution that allows you to have a clean, even floor without pits and holes.

4.  Easy to clean

Choose a flooring solution that’s easy to clean.  If you park your car in the garage or bring in muddy bikes then of course the floor will need cleaning to keep it looking good.  But you can install a floor that’s easy to clean and doesn’t need a full on pressure washer to get it back up to scratch.

5.  Gives your garage the wow factor
