Decluttering with Marie Kondo – what not to do…
At this time of year, and particularly this January, the decluttering craze is in full flow. If you have the bug and haven’t yet watched the new Netflix programme “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” then you should definitely take a look.
According to an article we found on MBGLifestyle blog, here are four things that you shouldn’t do…
1. Think of decluttering or tidying as a chore
Instead try dedicating all your energy to tidying up until the task is completed.
2. Don’t keep bin bags of stuff lying around
Once you’ve decided to get rid of items, get rid of them immediately rather than keep them hanging around.
3. Discard things without thanking them
Think about what they meant to you once rather than just thinking of them as a disposable item.
4. Put all the pressure on yourself
If you live with others, encourage them to get involved and give one room per person to keep tidy. That should focus the children’s minds…!

So Christmas is over for another year and perhaps you are rushing to the sales to see what bargains you can pick up. But once the dust has settled from all the celebrations, you might look at all the presents that have arrived and think where on earth do I store everything?
