Amazing home gym for this fitted garage in Exeter

Having recently moved from Surrey to Exeter, this family were keen to upgrade their garage and create a clean space to use as a home gym.  And after seeing Garageflex featured in House Beautiful magazine, they called us up to get a brochure.

Once received, they browsed through and got inspiration for their own garage but it wasn’t until August 2018 that they were ready to get started.  Managing Director, Alastair Broom, went down to visit them to discuss the project.  Whilst in Devon, he showed the owners ideas, samples of flooring and walls plus measured up the space to come up with an initial design idea.  Once the layout was agreed, the deposit was paid and the installation date set for September 2018.

Two of our fantastic fitters, Peter and Bill, went down to start the installation.  As you can see from the image gallery, the garage was made of stone blocks with a concrete floor.  Timber battens were first of all fitted to the walls which our FlexiPanel is then attached to.  This forms the basis of our flexible storage as all items including shelves, cabinets and racks simply fit on to the wall and can be moved around as desired.

Next a smart new tiled floor was laid and finally, a workbench and storage accessories added.  Now it was time to put the gym equipment back in.

We are very proud of this smart home gym as it looks amazing.   If you are interested in finding out how we can help you, why not download our free brochure.

Garageflex Premium Floor Tiles – Technical Details

Floor Tiles Technical Specifications

Floor Tiles are a great way to give your garage an update without breaking the bank. You can choose the colour to suit your existing interior or jazz it up with a bright colour to make it pop! And if you’re considering our tiles you may need more information about the technical specifications.  Particularly if you want to use heavy machinery, store cars and bikes or are just not sure if they are right for you.

So we’ve put together some technical points below that might answer any questions you have.

Where can the tiles be used?

Our premium floor tiles are suitable for a residential garage and, as they are heavy-duty, can also be used in workshops as they can withstand weight of 9kg per square metre.  Or if you want to think about it a different way, the tiles can hold six times the weight of a car.

Floor Tiles Technical Specifications

Do the Tiles need to be stuck down?

No, our tiles do not need any adhesive. The interlocking nature of the tiles means they won’t lift or curl.  They are also good for a slightly uneven floor as they can hide imperfections.

How long will the Tiles last for?

The tiles should last more than 20 years and we warranty them for 10 years.  If one tile gets damaged, it is very easy to replace that tile to get your floor looking great again.

Are the Tiles easy to clean?

Yes very easy to clean.  We recommend using a PH neutral floor cleaner.

Other technical specifications to note:

– Multiple industry accreditations incl ISO9001 and ISO14001
– Fire retardant – Class Bfl S1
– 100% recyclable
– Hardness: 90-92 Shore A
– ESD Version: Yes
– Thermal Insulation Properties: R Value – 1.1 m²K/W
– Sound Insulation Properties: Sound reduction of up to 46db

Single garage in Buckinghamshire gets a Garageflex Makeover

We first met this Racing Car customer at The Silverstone Classic event back in July 2017.  He was keen to see what we could do with his single garage in terms of design and storage.

To begin

Design Consultant, Abi Leonard, went to visit him to discuss requirements, measure up and leave a CAD drawing of his space.

The plan was to utilise the garage wall space without losing too much of the lovely brickwork which was a real feature of the garage.  Plus installing a resin floor, wall cabinets and storage hooks.

Our aim is to design a garage that is right for you and this customer was very happy with the proposed ideas.  Unfortunately the customer wasn’t quite ready to start the project so it was put on hold.

Time to start

Then in August 2018, we got the call that he was ready to go and so the installation date was set for early September 2018.  First of all the MMA Resin Floor was laid so that this was all dry and ready before our professional fitters arrived.  Once our fitters were on site with the plans, they set about installing timber battens on the walls where our FlexiPanel was going to be situated.  You can see how this works in the first few images below.

There were some fiddly bits to deal with such as the long thing windows and cladding around the doors, again you can see this in the gallery of images below.

Next the Wall Cabinets and Mini Wall Cabinets were built and installed to give plenty of storage options.  Finally, the shelves, hooks and metal cabinet were added to complete this single garage.

We were delighted to be involved in this project.  If this has inspired you, do get in touch to see how we can help organise your garage.

Garage Transformation in Taunton really fits the bill

This fantastic garage transformation was fitted out in August 2018 in Taunton, Somerset.

This large garage had good lighting but lacked storage.  The owner wanted it divided into two so he could have a Home Gym area plus garage space for his cars. After discussing his requirements with MD Alastair Broom and getting a ballpark figure, Alastair visited the garage to measure up and draw out detailed plans for the owner to look at.

Once agreed, the installation date was booked in and in August 2018, our fitters travelled down to Taunton to begin the garage transformation.  They started off by building a dividing wall across the garage to split up the space.  Then both areas had our FlexiPanel wall storage cladding installed which enables our storage accessories to be hooked on to the wall.  The rear gym area had a set of metal storage cabinets with a workbench whilst the front garage area had just the cabinets. All were in Crimson Red which provided a striking feature against the white of the walls and the grey of the Resin floor which was also installed.

There was a large side passage which is now being used to store bikes and golf clubs.  The ceiling has been fully clad, a resin floor laid and finally a new Sectional garage door was installed in a matching Light Oak.

The whole effect has given the owners around 65 sq m of very usable space to suit their lifestyle – fitness and cars!

Garageflex were delighted to work on this project which was installed by our friendly team of professional fitters.  If you would like something similar for your garage, please do take a look at our Complete Garage Makeover page where you can find inspiration for how we can help you with your garage.
