Are The Electrics Safe In Your Garage?
Keeping electrical cables in good working order is imperative in your home AND your garage. We have compiled a list of top tips below to ensure your garage is safe both for you and your family.
1. Make sure all electrical cords are in good condition. Replace any that are frayed, knotted or coiled.
2. Check electrical ratings on appliance cords and extension cords. Make sure all appliances are carrying proper loads.
3 Outdoors, use only extension cords marked specifically for outdoor use.
4. Use child-resistant outlet covers on wall outlets if children live in or visit your home.
5. Check for safety certifications from recognised testing organisations on all electrical appliances, cords and fixtures.
6. Follow manufacturer’s recommendation for power usage. Use extension cords only temporarily. Remove extension cords when finished.
7. Keep all electrically powered appliances and equipment dry and away from exposure to water.

Garage Makeover? Piece Of Cake…
Whenever we get a call from a prospective customer, we are always asked what the process is. So we thought we would blog about how it all works from start to finish so you can see just how easy it is. And remember, we are a UK wide company so can offer an excellent nationwide service.
The steps to go through are:
- Call us on 01491 636080 or email us at info@garageflex.co.uk. We can answer all your questions, give you a ball park guide on prices and arrange a mutually convenient time to come and see you.
- Alastair or Rob will come to your house, discuss your requirements and provide you with a CAD drawing and estimate of the cost of doing what you want done, but with their recommendations. The whole presentation normally takes around 1.5 hours in total.
- They will leave with you the drawings and costs so you can look over them in your own time and see if you want to make any changes.
- When you decide you are happy with the quote and want to proceed, give us a call, we can talk over dates and ask for a deposit.
- Your installation date is confirmed and each installation takes on average 3-4 days depending on the size of your garage and the complexity of the work. They will have explained this when they met you.
- You clear out your garage before the installation – not worrying about heavy items as we can look after those.
- Our friendly fitters arrive on the day of installation to install your dream garage and leave you a very happy customer.
So what are you waiting for? Call us today to see how we can transform your garage.
Something to Consider As We Get 2013 Underway!
Apparently, in a recent report, a total of 3,680 hours (or 153 days) is spent searching for items in our homes and garages and over our lifetimes that works out to be ten minutes every day!
Here at Garageflex, we are passionate about transforming your garage, providing more storage and ultimately helping give back some of that lost time! We all have a lot of ‘stuff’ that we accumulate and that finds itself ‘thrown’ in the garage so e.g. with Christmas now behind us, we thought we would give you some ideas which could help alleviate some of the stress and that may well come in useful:
- Go through your garage and get rid of unused or unwanted items – this should be relatively easy based on the amount of dust that is likely to have accumulated to help determine what should stay versus what should go! Is there anything that could be passed to your local charity?!
- If you are unsure about some items, put them in a box that can easily be stored and mark the date on top. Make a reminder to come back to it in a year and if you haven’t used the items since that date, you can get rid of it.
- Try not to hoard! We all have emotional attachments but do you really need three old bikes and the broken ladder?
- With the items you do want to keep, think about where they should live and put them with similar things.
- Speak to Garageflex about how we can maximise the storage in your garage and help give you back your ten minutes per day to do something more enjoyable!
